Speaker said we do not need to read the vedas but then how do you reconcile that with the following Bani.
: Do not say that the Vedas and the Kateb (Quraan, etc.) are false. False is he who does not Reflect on them. (sggs 1350).
Parbhatee.Ved Kateb Kaho Mutt Jhoothey Jhoodtha Jo Na Bicharey
The SIKH is being advised against declaring the above 8 scriptures as false or fake. Bhagat Kabeer attributes fakeness to those who have NOT understood them.
Virtually all of the spiritual people – including the Vedic Clergy – had not read and understood their own scriptures. So the critique is on them – for them to stop making fake claims ON THE BASIS of the Vedas and Katebs (that they have not understood).
This is NOT a call for us Sikhs to go and read the Vedas and Katebs and understand them. Our Gurus have done that for us and given us their findings. A sampling of their findings from the SGGS are as follows:
1. ॥ SGGS 265 Salok hou Sastar Bhou Simratee Pekhey Sarab Dhandol. Pujass Nahi Har Hare Nanak Naam Amol.
Meaning: I have studied and researched the Shastras and Simratees. There is no spirituality of the Omnipresent Creator therein.
੩ ॥ SGGS 797 Joug Joug Apo Aapna Dharam Hai Sodh Dekho Ved Purana.
Meaning: Different eras have different spiritualties, studying the Vedas and Puranas reveals this. One who internalizes the messages emanating from the Guru’s mind (Gurmukh) relating to the Omnipresent Creator will realize the Omnipresent.
SGGS 128. Ved Pareh Har Rus Nahi Aiya. Vaad Vakhaney Mohe Maya.
Meaning: Studying the Vedas does not provide Godly essence; one gets attached to the polemics (vaad) therein.
The Guru’s message to the Sikh is to connect with the messages of the SGGS ji – VICH BANEE AMRIT SAREY.
